The sun came out to dry the track at Braga when the drivers went out for the first lap of the Academy Trophy competition. The Austrian Max Hofer increased the speed of first place progressively as the end of the session approached and grabbed pole in his group with a time of 56” 993. Then the French driver Adeline Prudent also increased the speed to take second place ahead of the Briton Alex Gill, the Canadian Kami Laliberté, and the Finn Alec Weckström.
Geogre Russell was expected to lead the second group and he actually performed very well, but the Polish driver Adrian Rozycki took pole by a tiny fraction of a second. The Finn Joonas Lappaleinen didn’t belie his reputation as a Viking, finishing third ahead of the Estonian Franck Merilhat and Italian Mattia Drudi. It was a bit of a rout for the French competitors Besancenez and Julé, 15th and 18th in their group.
Overall, Rozycki leads from Russell, Hofer, Prudent and Lappaleinen.
